Sooner or later we all begin to ponder whether we should stay in our present home or think about moving to something smaller or more in keeping with our desires for the retirement years. A.1) Providence Centralia Hospital is just ¾ of a mile from Stillwaters Estates.

A.2) Along with 911 and an excellent Emergency Room at the hospital, each home at Stillwaters is monitored for medical and fire emergencies.

Q.3) How close will I be to grocery stores, banks, pharmacies, gas stations, etc.? 
A.3) Approximately 4 minutes or 1½ miles.

Q.4) Is public transportation available if I prefer not to drive?
A.4) Along with Senior Transportation, a service provided by our local Senior Services Center, city buses stop at two Stillwaters locations every ½ hour.

Q.5) Are there cultural activities within driving distance? 
A.5) Centralia/Chehalis have their own amateur playhouse and museums, including an outstanding military museum; a community concert program; a summer “Concert In The Park” series; concerts and sporting events at Centralia College and our local high schools; the Southwest Washington Fair; and a variety of other small town events worth attending that give Centralia and Chehalis a distinct Norman Rockwell feeling. In addition, Olympia, our State Capital city is just a 30 minute drive, and offers another whole array of cultural activities.

Q.6) How far is it to a large airport facility when I need to take a trip by airplane?
A.6) Centralia is approximately 1½ hours from both Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Portland International Airport. An airport shuttle is available to provide transportation to both.

Q.7) Do I need to drive on a major freeway to get to where I want to go?
A.7) While I-5 goes north to Tacoma and Seattle and south to Portland through Centralia, all local destinations can be reached without going onto the Interstate highway.

A.8) Twin City Senior Services Center is a very active center that provides Senior Transportation, a daily hot lunch program (including “Meals On Wheels”), weekly dances, and a variety of other programs.

Q.9) Are Centralia and Stillwaters Estates safe places to live?
A.9) While safety is a growing concern in many small towns, Centralia remains a place where people can safely shop or enjoy an evening out. Stillwaters is a gated community where people feel safe, whether walking, driving, or sitting on their porches or patios.

Q.10) Is there a community college or a four-year college in the area that offers a Senior Adult education program?
A.10) In addition to St. Martins and Evergreen College in Olympia, Centralia Community College regularly offers classes for senior citizens. Some are hosted by the Senior Services Center, and some are offered at Stillwaters Estates.

A.11) Centralia and Chehalis have a total of 47 churches representing many different denominations to choose from.

A.12) The answer to both questions is “Yes”. In addition to the college library, the City of Centralia has a lovely, historic Carnegie Library located downtown in a beautiful parkside setting.

A.13) In addition to the mountains and ocean beaches, there are nearby lakes for water skiing and fishing, golf courses, antique malls, numerous restaurants, and an outlet mall, along with a growing number of major stores and restaurants.

A.14) There is no buy-in or entry fee at Stillwaters, and yes, each homeowner also owns the land his or her home sits on.

Q.15) Does Stillwaters have Covenants and Restrictions and who enforces them?
A.15) In order to protect the integrity of our community and the quality of life of our residents, Stillwaters Estates does have Covenants and Restrictions. Because Stillwaters is a family owned and operated business, it is a managed community, and its covenants are enforced by the office staff.

Other Pertinent Information About Stillwaters Estates
Every home is built without steps and with wide doorways and hallways to accommodate the needs of the handicapped and the aging.
Stillwaters provides its residents with a high level of security, from fire monitoring and medical alert systems in each home, to security gates that are closed at night.
Stillwaters Estates is not a Homeowners Association. Ours is a managed community, which is family owned and operated. Complaints and covenant violations are handled through the office.
Colonial Residence is a wonderful assisted living facility located on the campus of Stillwaters Estates. Stillwaters residents are given first priority when they need to move to assisted living.
Our park-like yards and open areas are maintained by our outstanding crew, many of whom have been with Stillwaters for years.
Our Contractor has been building homes for us since 1988. He is readily available for repairs or problem-solving needs. His crews are highly regarded in the area for their dependability and the quality of their work.
Our office staff is available five days a week to handle sales and provide services such as Notary assistance, oversee maintenance needs, collect your mail and look in on your home while you are away to insure that problems are caught quickly, and provide resource information for such needs as housecleaning and care-giving.
